ActiveTrades
ActivTrades is an e forex brokerage firm that has been in existence since 2005. The company is located in London, UK, and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). Traders have a reasonable amount of confidence that their money held by ActivTrades is in safe hands since the company is affiliated to the watchdog body that protects trader funds, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
MetaTrader platform
ActivTrade's trading platform is the famous MetaTrader 4. The benefits that this platform brings to the forex trader can therefore be enjoyed by traders choosing the company. Some of the technical indicators that traders at ActivTrades have access to include Bollinger Bands, Stochastic Oscillators, Moving Averages and Relative Strength Indices among many others. In addition to trading forex, ActivTrades also trades Futures and CFDs.
Demo Account and 3 Types of live accounts
ActivTrades allows new traders 30 days of free trading using a demo account and those who wish to continue trading after this period are required to open a live account. The company has three types of accounts - the Standard Account, the Interbank Account and the Reduced Risk Account. There are slight differences between what each account type offers but they are basically the same. For example, all accounts are opened with a deposit of EUR 250, they are commission free, there is no dealing desk for all accounts (the company means to provide a fully automated service) and all of the accounts are based on the MetaTrader platform. Some of the features that differentiate between the accounts include the maximum leverage. For the Standard and Interbank Accounts, the maximum leverage is 1:400 while it is 1:100 fro the Reduced Risk Account. The spreads are also fixed for the Interbank Account while they are variable for the other two accounts.
Transaction method and amounts
ActivTrades accepts only two deposit options, via Credit/Debit Cards and Wire Transfer. For traders in the UK, a deposit transaction does not incur any charges but traders elsewhere are charged 1.5% of the amount deposited. The maximum amount that a trader can deposit at once is EUR 5000 and the maximum amount that can be deposited in an account over thirty days is EUR 15000. The minimum deposit and withdrawal amount is EUR 100. For withdrawals via wire transfer, various destinations are charged varying amounts.
Mobile trading
Traders at ActivTrades have instant access to and the ability to carry out trades from anywhere in the world courtesy of the MetaTrader 4 Mobile terminal that enables them to use pocket PCs to do so. The mobile devices are used to access up to 30 technical indicators and to receive alerts. The MetaTrader 4 Mobile Smartphone Edition provides the same kind of information and facilitates trade through the use of SmartPhones.
Customer support at ActivTrades is conducted through live chat, email and telephone. The company actually asks traders who wish to be called by a company representative to provide their phone details and an appropriate time when they could be called.
Support and trader training at ActivTrades is conducted in several languages including French, Spanish, German and Italian. Moreover, the major currency pairings are available.
